How to write a web application that learns to play games
Computational social studies has a long and storied history.
It’s also one of the fastest growing areas of science.
But what if you wanted to teach computer science to kids?
Now there are more ways than ever to do that, and a new approach is emerging that has the potential to change how students learn the subject.
Computer Science students will be learning a programming language called Java to help them get started with their careers in computer science.
“There are more opportunities now to engage students in computer-science in the real world,” says Jennifer Strain, associate professor of computer science at the University of Pennsylvania and co-author of a book called Code, Code, CODE: Learning Computer Science from the Ground Up.
“We’re trying to bring the language to the classroom where students can start coding now, in real time.”
Strain says students have always had a strong interest in learning computer science and programming, but she says Java has given that interest a fresh perspective.
“I’ve been teaching computer science since I was 11 years old,” Strain says.
“I’ve seen how powerful computers are in making people’s lives easier and how they make people happier and more productive.”
In the past, Strain and her students would take a class in a computer lab and code to solve a task, but that quickly changed.
“Now they are coding on a laptop and using the computer to interact with a video game,” Stain says.
Students can now work in teams and learn through a single source.
Students can see a video they are working on and then see it in action.
“That’s the new way,” Stress says.
“It’s a lot of fun for kids to play, and the kids love it,” says Andrew Ruh, a computer science major at the College of William and Mary.
“They love it for its ability to take them from classroom to classroom and work together.”
The new way of learning computer sciences is becoming more popular in computer schools.
In the past year, many computer science courses in public schools have adopted Java, or have offered a “Code, Code” curriculum.
And a growing number of colleges and universities are using Java to teach their students how to program in their online programs.
“The students are interested in learning the subject,” Stah says.
But for many students, there’s a difference between programming and programming in a text-based environment.
For example, a student might not be interested in the idea of writing a web page in Java, so they might not want to learn the basics of coding.
“For many students it’s the first language they have, and it’s like, ‘I don’t know how this can be done,'” Strain explains.
“There’s a little bit of resistance.”
“There’s been a lot more interest in computer learning in general, and more and more of the students are really interested in computers, but they don’t have any prior programming experience.”
To get started, you can follow the directions on the Java Developer Kit, a software toolkit for developers that has a lot to offer.
It has more than 500 tutorials for beginners, but the most popular ones are for people who want to jump right into programming, with a focus on Java 8.
Java 8 is the latest version of Java, which is now a widely used programming language.
“They need to learn something, and I think they’ll find it pretty helpful,” Stains says.
